Privacy Policy.

Last updated: May 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how @diet ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website, submit a video, inquire about a restaurant feature, subscribe to our newsletter, or interact with us on social channels (collectively, the "Service"). We're a New York–based food media operation. We try to keep our data practices simple and respectful — and we explain them in plain English below. By using the Service you consent to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us

  • Creator submissions: name, email, Instagram handle, video link, restaurant name, borough, and a short pitch.
  • Restaurant inquiries: restaurant name, borough, contact name, role, email, restaurant Instagram, the package you're interested in, and a short story about your spot.
  • Newsletter signup: email address.
  • Direct correspondence: anything you email or DM us, plus our reply.
  • Payments: if you purchase a restaurant feature package, our payment processor (e.g. Stripe or similar) collects payment-card details. We do not store full card numbers ourselves; we only retain the receipt metadata our processor returns (last 4 digits, brand, transaction reference).

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs: when you visit, our hosting provider may automatically log your IP address, device/browser type, the page you visited, the time, and the referring URL, for security and basic diagnostics.
  • Analytics: we may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool (such as Plausible, or similar) that records aggregated traffic patterns without using third-party cookies and without identifying you personally. If we ever switch to a tool that uses cookies or fingerprinting, we'll update this Policy and add an in-page disclosure.
  • Cookies: the Service does not currently set tracking cookies. Embedded third-party content (e.g. fonts loaded from Google Fonts, images loaded from Instagram or other CDNs) may set their own cookies per their own policies.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Review your submission, evaluate your restaurant, or process your inquiry, and reply to you.
  • Feature your video on @diet's website, social channels, and newsletter (if your submission is selected), with credit where practical, per our Terms of Service.
  • Deliver the @diet newsletter and similar editorial communications.
  • Issue invoices, take payments, and provide receipts for paid restaurant packages.
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service (including basic analytics).
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of others.

3. How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to operate the Service:

  • Service providers who process data on our behalf — e.g. our form processor (e.g. Formspree or FormSubmit), email/newsletter platform, hosting provider, analytics tool, and payment processor. These providers are contractually limited to handling data for us and not for their own marketing.
  • Public posting. When we feature a Submission, the Submission's content (and your handle) becomes public on the Service and our social channels. Don't submit anything you don't want publicly attributed to you.
  • Business transfers. If @diet is sold, merged, or restructured, information may transfer to the new owner subject to this Policy or a successor with materially equivalent commitments.
  • Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of @diet, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing.

4. Newsletter and Email Choices

Every newsletter contains a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also email us at areibifamily@gmail.com to be removed. We will honor unsubscribe requests promptly. We may still send you transactional replies to inquiries you started — those aren't covered by your newsletter unsubscribe.

5. Data Retention

We keep submission and inquiry information for as long as needed to respond and deliver the relevant feature, plus a reasonable archive period for editorial reference and legal needs. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. Payment records are retained for the period required by tax and accounting law. You can ask us to delete information we hold about you (see "Your rights" below) and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including HTTPS in transit and access controls on our internal tools. No system is 100% secure; if we ever experience a data breach affecting you, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it. Some portions of the Service (paid restaurant packages) require you to be at least 18.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to: access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, delete your information, restrict or object to certain processing, and receive a portable copy. To exercise these rights, email areibifamily@gmail.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (typically 30–45 days). We may need to verify your identity before completing your request.

For California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to know what we collect, request deletion or correction, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. The categories of information we collect are described in Section 1 above. Contact us at the email above to make a request.

For EU/UK residents (GDPR/UK GDPR)

Our legal bases for processing are: your consent (e.g. newsletter), our legitimate interests (e.g. responding to inquiries, running the Service securely), and our contractual obligations (e.g. delivering paid packages). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. International transfers are made with appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.

9. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content

The Service links to and embeds content from third-party platforms (such as Instagram, Unsplash, Google Fonts, and other CDNs). Those platforms have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for them. When you click through to a third-party site, that site's policy governs.

10. Do-Not-Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry consensus on how to interpret this signal, so the Service does not change its behavior in response to it. We instead aim to minimize tracking by default (no third-party advertising cookies, privacy-respecting analytics).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy as the Service evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by updating this page and, where appropriate, by email or in-product notice. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Contact
